Rex launches forwards immediately and so does Bly, because he can admit to himself that he likes gifts. He likes gifts a whole lot more than Cody and Wolffe, anyway, who both act like martyrs who don’t need any material love. “Poetry, vod?” Bly asks, incredulous. “Cody’s right, you are going soft.”
“It’s by a clone,” Fox says, defensively, “it’s quite good, actually. For poetry. It made Sergeant Hound cry at the service.”

In which Eddie is stuck in suburbia with a Steve who mows the garden shirtless and insists on wearing short shorts.
Steve has little red marks on the backs of his heels from old blisters, or something, and above that on the soft flesh of his hairy shin a little black mole. It’s frightening, to know these things about Steve, Eddie doesn’t know what to do with it. He feels like he should tell someone, the gossip rag down at Hawkins High Steve’s curled up in a chair now, reading glasses on his nose and little frown on his face, reading their bills or taxes or something, heels and moles on display for the whole world to see.
People shouldn’t be allowed to see Steve like this. Someone needs to tell the press. It’s a national concern. His hair is being all… Eddie slams his mug down on the counter and scurries out, slamming the door after himself. Awful.

Summary
El paints her nails, Max's nails, and Steve Harrington's nails. Steve teaches her that maybe people aren't normal or different species or anything at all except human.
Max painted her nails once, a deep burgundy red. That had been nice. El thinks she liked the blue more though, the way it shimmers in the right light. It looks like magic, almost (if magic had a colour that wasn’t abyss black and water for miles). She hopes Max doesn’t mind that she prefers blue, fumbles halfway through the second coat when she realises Max is — She feels bad for preferring things that didn’t happen with Max.
Still, she likes the blue. The way it glitters deep like car paint reminds her of Max anyway. Complex and hidden, like those smiles Max has when she’s trying not to. Blue always reminds her of Max, even though maybe red or orange should. She wonders if it’s that blue room with those blue lights where she took Max’s heart and squeezed —

Summary
During a conversation with Vickie, Robin decides to start using Steve as her beard and sure, lying to her parents is great, and she doesn't mind Hawkins thinking she's getting it on with Steve Harrington, but then lovable, idiotic Steve decides it's a great idea to carry on the lie to Eddie to make him jealous. Robin has had enough of her platonic soulmate being this fucking stupid, but sure, whatever, it'll work out in the end, it always does with Steve.
“Should I — like, go?” Eddie stares at them, still lifting up the duvet so cold air is getting on Robin’s thighs, she curls her toes under the shins of the massive fucking idiot next to her. “If you guys wanna —?”
Eddie, Robin thinks, is probably the only person they should tell about the whole fake part of their relationship. Eddie, Robin thinks, is probably the only other person in the world who would’ve even volunteered to be her beard. Eddie, who they share a bed with when they’re drunk like this, is the last person they need to start lying to but for some reason Steve has decided they need to defend themselves against Eddie and Robin can only stare at Steve and think "why him, why is he your soulmate?"

Summary
Five times someone (mostly Eddie) kisses Steve and one time Steve kisses Eddie.
By the time he gets down the stairs he’s at least partly convinced that his parents’ home hasn’t become a womb for weird slimy aliens and he slides to a stop on his socked feet on the wooden hall floor to stare at the shape on the couch, he’d half-forgotten he’d invited Munson. The shape is breathing, thankfully, the night before the poor guy hadn’t even been able to make it to the mattress he’d been raving about and had conked out in the living room after about three seconds of sitting in one of the armchairs.
“Morning,” says the lump, unexpectedly.
“Think it’s probably afternoon, actually.” His voice feels very scratchy and worn from screaming, yelling, being strangled by the Upside Down variety of bat, and singing very loudly and badly Love Machine by Wham! because everyone else had refused point blank to sing Steve’s favourite song with him.

Eddie and Steve have been spending a lot of time together since Vecna. They're co-parenting kids, getting high every night, and sleeping in the same bed. They basically share a wardrobe too.
He thinks this is dangerous, its like they’re married, the casual sharing of intimacy, this space between them which feels like something and nothing all at the same time. He thinks it’s dangerous for him to pretend Steve sees it the same way, that one day Steve’s droopy, kind eyes are going to see right through him and he’ll lose this. This being a side of Steve’s bed that is his, a nightstand where his rings always pile, a drawer of shirts in Steve’s bedroom that only Eddie uses. He can’t lose it, so he shuts his mouth, turns out the light, and watches the slow breathing of sleep fill Steve’s chest.

Mutely, he shoots the droid that was approaching his six and wonders if there’s even any point running the remaining distance to their aid.
Cody doesn’t seem that worried, so Rex assumes they’re just knocked out and Kenobi had told them that’s what would happen if any of them touched it and he also assumes that Anakin wasn’t listening when this crucial piece of information was relayed to him. This seems like a safe assumption.

When Steve and Robin had first… well, adopted him, he supposes — Steve likes waifs and strays, Robin says — he had thought it would be just for that: the weed. But they had let him stay and let him have at Steve’s dad’s expensive alcohol selection and then they — and then Steve had — they had let him sleep in Steve’s bed beside them, drunkenly nonsensical. After that he had known it wasn’t anything but kindness that let him into the fold, into this fold which was a downward spiral into extreme mental health issues and drug dependencies, sure, but it was a fold anyway.

Robin learns a few things about Steve. In hindsight she should have seen the crush on Eddie Munson coming from a mile off.
Robin tries not to take Steve seriously most of the time. He’s sarcastic and bitchy to a fault, especially around her for some reason, and ever since Scoops Ahoy she’s found he’s either brutally, unfailingly, earnestly honest or the biggest and worst most sardonic liar in Hawkins. There have been multiple times, however, where he has surprised her and whatever she thought was a snide comment with no real truth behind it ends up being the most honest part of whatever bullshit he was saying to her.
In other words: Steve in an enigma who confuses and surprises Robin so often she really should stop being surprised every time he surprises her.
