He's always liked the blond’s voice in all honesty. Has liked the strong confidence he carries, shares each word with conviction. It's carefully crafted, precise, filled with a warm bravado. He likes it.
He'd told that to Neito once, when the boy was in the midst of one of his deranged ramblings. The blond had paused mid-sentence to look at him, an oddly timid look on his face as he'd avoided his gaze and said with a self-depreciating smile, “Ah, I'm probably boring you with my babbling…”
And Hitoshi, rather quickly, had told him, “Don't stop.”

After a minute, Neito leans over him and grins, facepaint from their night out slightly smeared. “Hey,” he says, propping himself up on his elbows and still panting, “we did it!”
A moment too soon because suddenly the bedroom light is flickering on. Both boys recoil, squinting and groaning at the sudden change before very quickly going rigid once they recognize who's standing in the doorway.
Aizawa takes one long look at them before he's giving out a, “Living room. Now.”

“Nightcrawler,” the ringmaster repeats after a full thirty seconds of this chanting. He sweeps his arms behind him, gesturing toward the entrance all of the performers had arrived from. A cage is wheeled into the circle, a spotlight following its path. Logan feels a bundle of nerves tighten in his stomach.
Logan squints. There’s a flicker of yellow among the dark mass.
And then there’s a flash, and the smell of sulfur.
The Nightcrawler lands atop its cage, head swiveling wildly. Logan’s stomach drops.
