The world feels like boiling water. Like the fake water on the road in front of them, hazy, tar-sticky. So hot it’s fucking unreal.
It’s been hot for weeks, July heat swelling like a cloud of flies over roadkill, but today it’s stupid hot. It came with the rising of the day, or maybe they’d driven into it, tour bus pointed directly down south, south, south. All Gerard knows is the rolling road beneath him, the clunky hum of stale air from the AC unit that doesn’t quite reach where he’s collapsed inside his bunk, and the vague awareness of other bodies scattered around the bus, raising the ambient temperature and making every surface stick.
Fuckin’ gross.

this feels like Home to me. i know thats silly to say because its just a frerard fic but this really does feel special to me. the way Summer in a small southern town is described is just Right to me. like yeah its sweat in all crevices of your body and the cicadas whirring so loudly it feels like theyre screaming at you and the sun going down yet the heat still feels like its suffocating you and everything is cheap and small and the roads all look the same and it all drives you insane but its nice in a way. and dont even get me started on how fucking cute gerard and frank are, with gee staring frank down on the bus while drinking room temperature coffee and taking in his tattoos and the way hes sweating in a shitty little tanktop that he stole from mikey and then later they walk to the gas station in the summer heat and gerard just stares at the back of franks shirt and when they get back to the motel they sit by the empty pool and makeout and sweat and laugh and its cute. everything about this is awesome i just like it a lot (understatement of the year)

seriously what the actual fucking fuck. ive never read a fic as Teenage-ly and Alive and Real as this one. also the longest frerard fic ive ever read, compared to unholyverse!!!!!! i got it down in two days and it has changed my entire perspective on about a million things. now when i think of frank iero, ill think of this fic, where hes a juvenile, shitty, rude, lying, stealing, catholic guilty gay 15 year old who is in love with gerard and fights against all parental figures in his life and jumps out of his window every night to go see gerard because he's in love with him. theyre codependent and messy and obsessive and weird and gerard dreams about werewolves and killing frank and frank dreams about gerard coming to his funeral and kissing his eyelids in a poignant way. it rains and storms and its the heat of summer and it makes me feel Alive. i want to open my window and run away and smoke cigarettes until my lungs give in and dance around in a thunderstorm. its 2:53 a.m. as im writing this and im so tired to the point that im delirious and im so awake i could shave my head and go swimming. i need to get this tattooed on my soul and eat it so its apart of me forever. this is deadass one of the greatest fics i have ever had the chance of reading and ill carry it with me for years. i love teenage love and shitty older gerard who is so weird and the town freak and frank who is just so jittery and rebellious that he talks shit to the priest and i love all the mentions of the flooding of hot summer storms. i want to die just so i can have the chance to reread this work. i feel alive, so alive.

ive truly been left speechless by this ENTIRE thing. all im doing right now is staring at my phone in complete and utter shock. i mean. wow. was just going into this expecting a silly and hot prorev fic, came out in tears and in admiration at it all. so very well done. just. like. i have NO words. okay i may have some words but GOOD GOD. yeah of course it was hot and had beautiful smut and all that, but i was not expecting all of the love and the layers to it and the wonderful characterization of frank and how you can tell gerard loves frank no matter what, just through his simple actions like taking care of him and giving him water, even if he doesnt say it. this has fucked me UP. probably one of my new comfort fics and new favorite author. there is too much love and pining and hope poured into this i mean oh my god this has torn my entire heart apart and stitched it together with pink thread. the little inner monologue frank has about gerard when he's in subspace about how gerard has always been there even when frank didn't know him, and how he was his home from the very start seeing as gerard had come from the same parts frank grew up in and they were always meant to find each other because of all that and how gerard being his home means that gerard loves him no matter what and Yeah. my brain is melting out of my ears and im still in total shock. absolute comfort read and just made 2026 entirely better. this was worth the two hours it took to read and hopefully ill reread this again 🥹🥹❤️🩹❤️🩹
