Summary
Remus’ head snaps up sharply and she slowly stands, unfolding herself. A wary growl starts in her throat as she turns, displaying inch-long claws. Sirius gulps, remembering what those claws did, and waves, a tiny wiggle of her fingers.
Remus’ eyes lock on Sirius, ears relaxing slightly in recognition as she approaches. Up close she is big – even taller than Sirius remembers, with yellow-brown eyes. Her smell is animal-like, cedar and dirt and intoxicatingly full of memories.
Remus sniffs the air and looks at Sirius, evaluating. “You came back,” she says, her eyes both bright and dark. Maybe relief. Maybe exhaustion. Maybe disappointment. Maybe grief.
Sirius’ breath catches. “I came back.”
Just a monster and a witch, trying to make do after a very bad week in the war.

"You know," Sirius rasps, shrugging his blazer off his shoulders and slumping back against the door, "Most people would default to a level one, love."
Remus laughs, cupping Sirius' face in his hands and sealing their lips together in a hungry kiss. "You can handle it."
"Can I?" Sirius groans, nipping at Remus' bottom lip. He winds his arms around Remus' neck and presses up against him until Remus can tell how badly he's trembling. "Want to show me what else I can handle?"

“Remus,” she says quietly, “how long has it been since you slept?”
Or ate, she thinks.
Remus starts to wave her off, but Sirius can see the fatigue in her eyes. She takes a deep breath and pushes ahead. “Let me at least look at that leg, won’t you?”
Sirius holds her breath as Remus tenses further, but this time, Remus doesn’t throw her off. The wolf-like creature holds herself stiff for a moment but huffs out a sigh, turning her leg to Sirius, who crouches down to look at it. She can see it’s a burn, a bad one, that should’ve been seen to days ago. The fur is matted with blood and dirt. Sirius bites her lip as her eyes trace the swollen skin around the wound. She looks up to see wolf-like eyes looking at her, big yellow-brown, and full of exhaustion.
“Let me take care of this?” she asks, and there’s that stiffness again. Muscles tensing as if to run. Then a softening to the eyes and a weary nod.
Just a monster and a witch, trying to make do after a very bad week in the war.

The plug is, of course, still audibly vibrating.Remus had tried to make a quick dash inside to get the remote and was instantly thwarted by a swarm of bees, though he did manage to blow the candle out before it could possibly burn his house down or attract even more of them, and he’d strongly considered pulling the plug out out and hiding the cursed thing beneath a bush. The second his hands had gone to his waistband, though, he’d realized that the nosy woman next door was staring at him through the window, at which point he’d abandoned the idea completely.
The last thing he needs is a public indecency charge for getting caught with his pants down and a bejeweled plug sticking out of his arse.

“Soup?” Sirius passed Remus the bag as he stomped his boots, leaving a dusting of snow on the rug.
“Only if it’s lentil.” Remus tried to bury his desire, and he guided Sirius to the break room.
“Of course,” Sirius said and smiled wide. “What else?”
When James organises an impromptu karaoke night on Christmas Eve, Remus is already teetering on the edge, struggling to stay in control. He’s spent years perfecting his balancing act, being Sirius’s best mate and flatmate but never crossing the line into something more. Then one ridiculously sexy performance pushes him a little too close to Sirius, and staying in control becomes the last thing on his mind.
