Summary
Jabber twists to relieve some of the pressure on his throat, but Zanka's torso is heavy and solid atop him, and his shoes can't find purchase on the sticky floor. The cheering crescendoes around them, bassline thumping up through Jabber's back as his breaths grow shallow.
"—out, motherfucker!" Huh? "Tap out!" Zanka yells down at him over the roar of the crowd, strong forearm squeezing impossibly tighter around Jabber's neck.
Tap out? Who does Zan-Zan think he is?
Or: Jabber invites Zanka to a basement show for a rematch, but he may have bitten off more than he can chew.

Summary
Zanka focuses on his book again, flagging cases he's unfamiliar with to research later. Huh, he's actually making good progress… Until Jabber's head drops onto his shoulder.
The warm aroma of cardamom fills Zanka's nose, and he freezes. His first instinct is to fling the man off, but that may be too violent. God forbid Zanka somehow hurts him and gets put on an airline blacklist.
Ugh, of course this asshole would find a way to fuck with him even while unconscious. Zanka takes a deep breath, setting his e-reader aside and mentally preparing to maneuver Jabber without waking him.
Or: Zanka's trapped on a ten-hour flight beside the most aggravating man he's ever met.

Zanka starts to shift away, and Jabber's skull throbs in protest. Shit, his window of opportunity is closing.
Without wasting another moment, Jabber grabs Zanka's hand again, this time dragging it onto his head. "Hurts," he murmurs weakly. He has to fight down a grin, fully expecting Zanka to call bullshit and tell him to go fuck himself.
Instead, Zanka leaves his hand where Jabber's placed it. He hums in sympathy, threading his fingers between the chemist's thick locs to massage his scalp.
Jabber forgets to breathe.
Or: Jabber gets a migraine and finds comfort from an unexpected source.

Lan Wangji looks down at his own hands, steadying himself. It is easier to think clearly when he is not looking into Wei Wuxian’s eyes. He takes the scroll from his pouch.
“Research has uncovered a method,” he says. He does not mention the forbidden nature of said research, nor does he elaborate on the method itself. He will not venture to speak it aloud. He hands the scroll over.
Wei Wuxian looks at him for a long moment as he takes it, and Lan Wangji holds his breath, waiting for him to decide. Waiting to see if he is at least interested enough in the possibility of a new core to read it.
He is. He does. Lan Wangji might be relieved, if not for what comes next.
Lan Wangji offers to help Wei Wuxian develop a new golden core via dual cultivation. He struggles to keep his feelings in check.
