Classes were fine, some less interesting than others, sure, but still, it was not so bad. It was actually pretty easy. So, why did he only score a B+ on his first exam ? Zanka does not understand. He spent two weeks studying for this specific exam, and still, he missed the mark ?

"Both irritable and aggressive, but seeing them apart is rarer lately, right? " Riyo continues, after sneaking in through his window, getting comfortable on Rudo's bed once again.
"Wonder what happened, shouldn't we ask Eisha to check up on him?" Rudo practically mutters the second half of his sentence.
"Nah, let's see how this'll play out." Riyo announces, strangely amused by the situation.

Zanka's palms pushed up from the floor, supporting his upper body weight, letting him stare daggers into the man’s skull. He watched as the other man fidgeted with one of the charms hanging off the main clock. It was a tiny hourglass, no bigger than a fingernail. Each stream of sand slipped past itself in a way that felt wrong, like time stuttering instead of flowing down.
He was going to show him.

Zanka just started his junior year of high school, living in a student dorm and working his ass off to both pass his classes and to be able to pay rent to live away from his breathing-down-the-neck family.
He was steadily working for Enjin, a high school dropout who, with the help of Alto, which is also how Enjin met Rudo and Riyo, later introduced Zanka.
Zanka's biggest enemy is the naturally born talent; smartass, Jabber Wonger. he lives just a few dorms down from Zanka and barely goes out during the day. Most people keep away from him due to his known drug use and bad behavior, also alerting the police. Both being a big drug user and having a criminal record for minor crimes, he somehow still is allowed at school and is a top student, academically wise.
