Summary
“Dad, can you help open it?” Theo asks, handing the juice box to Eddie.
Eddie and Buck both freeze.
Buck goes to say yes but looks up to see that Theo is talking to Eddie, juice box extended to his best friend.
Eddie looks at Buck wide-eyed.
“Dad?” Theo asked again.
Buck swallows hard and nods at Eddie, giving the silent ok.
“Yeah, Theo, give it here,” Eddie says, taking the juice, putting the straw in it, and giving it back to the child. Chris watches this interaction, not saying a word.
Buck started prepping Theo’s plate when the kid said, “Mr. Buck, I don’t want the yellow stuff.” When Buck picked up the mustard.
“Uh, ok honey, that's ok. Anything else you don’t want?” Buck replies. Theo shakes his head, reaching for the burger Buck’s now finished assembling.
Aka Theo starts calling Eddie "Dad" and it has everything to do with Christopher. But don't worry Chris knows an easy way to fix things!

Summary
The answer comes easily, naturally, like it was already there waiting for the question. He shifts then, pushing himself up just enough to turn, to look at Eddie properly. There’s something different in his expression now, something sharper and more controlled, but it doesn’t push Buck away.
If anything, it draws him in.“You don’t have to come,” Eddie says, even though the words don’t carry much weight behind them.
Buck lets out a quiet breath, something almost amused threading through it, but there’s no real humor there.
Just certainty.“Yeah,” he says, softer now, but no less sure. “I do.”
Or part two where Buck and Eddie's story continues after they get together and life doesn't pause. And being together doesn't mean it'll be perfect.

Summary
Buck has been traveling for a long time. And as he went, clearing his head, leaving his parents behind, meeting new people, he feels as though he’s grown as a person. Especially in Peru, and while it was nice and now he has memories. Faces he’ll never fully forget and people's numbers in his phone that actually want to hear from him. Even from so far away.
Or while bartending in Texas, Buck and Eddie meet at the bar but nothing is what it seems and Eddie doesn’t plan on giving Buck up so easily.

Evan means spare parts. Evan means not good enough. Evan means disappointment and failure, you’re reckless, and you’re too much. Forgotten birthdays and football games.
Under a bright blue sky, he’s reborn as Buck.
“‘Cause you’re fast and you’re strong and you’re stubborn as hell,” says another Evan, clapping him on the back.
“Yeah, and you kinda get that deer in the headlights look when you get confused,” the third Evan ribs.
And Evan - Buck - is fine with that.

The call had started like any other. Annoyingly ordinary, even.
A two-story residential structure with a partial collapse following a gas explosion. Something Eddie figured would be quick, since the three occupants were already accounted for, with one possible missing person.
And then they went inside
And then Buck was gone
Or Buck falls and Eddie realizes that he can’t let this happen again and ignore the feelings it gives him as it crushes his chest
