Spiteful, Izuku doesn't save Bakugo from the slime villain, he doesn't inherit one for all, and he doesn't go to UA. Instead, hes shipped off to germany, follows a career in STEM at a specialized school, gets his doctorate in quirk science and at 23 he recieves a package years in transit from a father hes never known.
OR, when izuku returns home from germany for hiis residency program after the war to an unfamilliar country with unexpected confidence and compitence, people he once idolized look at him with an unease hes never experienced.

It was supposed to be a simple job. An easy mission. Go undercover as an investigative journalist, infiltrate a major hero agency, become their civilian consultant and find the mole. Detain for questioning if possible, eliminate if necessary.
Izuku Midoriya had completed missions like this before. Many, many missions like this. He was a hero commission operative, after all. But what he hadn’t counted on was Katsuki Bakugo.
The explosive blonde is everywhere. Demanding answers about Izuku’s past, sticking his fingers into Izuku’s investigation and having an annoying knack for showing up at the absolute WORST times.
If Izuku had thought he’d escaped Bakugo for good after they parted ways in middle school - he’d been dead wrong.
Now, lines are crossed and the mission Izuku has been sent on no longer seems simple or clean cut. Is Bakugo an ally? Or is he a threat? Can Izuku even tell the difference anymore?
With his mission, his life and his heart on the line, Izuku must make a decision - trust the one man capable of destroying him or let cold, hard logic make the choice for him.

That one fight I could never find any details on?" Scratch that. A very well informed fanboy. The expression on his face showed exactly how unforgivable the boy found his gap in knowledge.
"Well— That— I mean— That's correct? But what do you mean underground fights?"
"Your underground work? I know you're officially a limelight hero but I know you do more than that. You go on so many missions the news never talks about. That's what I want to do! I want to do underground hero work like you!"
