"And then" Riyo continued, ignoring Zanka’s warning look "they pull out the 'Drill'. It goes 'whirrrrrrrrr' and smells like burning bone! They dig and dig until your whole head shakes!"
"Riyo, shut up!" Zanka barked.

He was two inches from freedom when a heavy, calloused hand clamped down on his shoulder. It wasn't a violent grip, but it was absolute.
"Going somewhere, Zanka?"
Zanka stiffened. He didn't want to look. He really, truly didn't want to look. But he had no choice.
He turned his head slowly. The leader’s usual boisterous energy was gone, replaced by a terrifyingly still aura. He had a smile on his face—a wide, toothy grin—but it was tight, frozen, and didn't even come close to reaching his eyes. His eyes were fixed on the giant image of the lipstick-stained "kisses" on Zanka’s neck.

Rudo, now slightly more alert, looked between Zanka and Enjin. He saw the way Enjin was looking at Zanka—with a raw, open adoration and a stupid dopey smile—and the way Zanka was leaning unconsciously into Enjin’s space.
Rudo didn't say anything. He just took another bite of his burger, leaned his head against Zanka’s shoulder, and let out a content sigh.
It felt like home.
