Summary
Ryland Grace is the first human on an alien planet, which would be pretty cool if he hadn’t just run out of food.
Left in the care of a team of Eridians dedicated to his life support by an increasingly-absent Rocky, Grace has little to do but fear the future and reminisce about the four-year journey that brought him here. His life is further complicated when Rocky’s mate joins the team.
After surviving for years alone (or perhaps, as it turns out, not so alone) on a planet dying in slow-motion, Adrian is just trying to make sense of having their own life abruptly turned upside-down. Good thing their new alien ward is a better listener than their mate.
Meanwhile, throughout it all, Rocky is working tirelessly to help keep Grace alive.
It would be helpful if Grace actually realized that, though.
