In this AU unfortunate lowbloods get trafficed and sold to Highbloods as pets/slaves. They are even lesser standing than the regular peasantry, not even having the right to being their own person, but merely property for their Highblood masters to use and abuse as they see fit.
Gamzee had been permitted to choose a lowblood for himsef as a gift, and had immediately fallen horns over heels for Tavros. Usually Highbloods treat their lowbloods with cruelty and neglect, only making use of them when in need of a rough pailing, however Gamzee refused to treat his beloved Tav this way, at least at first.
