In one corner of her mind, Sancho thought that, yes, this was strange, that Don Quixote was so uncharacteristically abashed by these feelings of his, that there had to be more to them than just this. But it was difficult to deny this new expression of love, when she had been learning the wide variety of ways love manifested itself. This, too, could be love.
And it was right for a Father to love his Kindred, for Don Quixote to love Sancho.
Don Quixote teaches Sancho how to love, in multiple senses of the word.

Summary
This being—Yesod—has never truly been alive, has it? Yesod’s never been the name of a person, after all. Gabriel is—was—a man, and yet Yesod is a concept, a Sephirah, a part of a whole, a foundation.
This name of his describes a role impossible for any man to fill, a circuit component with one purpose, to convert the Seed of Light into something that can affect humanity, as nebulous as that is, and now to gather the scattered Light, a task as impossible as collecting the photons that diffuse through a prism.
But he is light, is he not? This form was not born of a human; it was created in the image of one, a simulacrum of a man who had died not knowing who he was, a machine that had lived myopically, seeking answers to a question he lacked the ability to even conceive of, a question he could not know even was real.
Yesod tries to figure out who—and what—he is. Is he dead or alive, a man or a machine?
He might get some answers by fighting the Singing Machine.

Summary
Roland can’t feel it. He can’t feel the pressure of her lips, he can’t feel her warmth, he can’t feel the pain sublimated into pleasure. He can’t even hear her breaths, delineated by each rise and fall.
It’s just a replica, 525 horizontal lines redrawn 60 times a second, analog reality discretized, strands of hair blurring together as she flips the man onto his back.
Roland makes the ill-advised decision to watch an old tape he and Angelica made. It doesn't go well.

Ayin was no stranger to death; it was impossible to avoid it in the City.
But he'd never personally taken a life; he’d never plunged a blade into a still-beating heart of a person, never cut the life out of someone, never watched the life drain from their eyes. He knew that if he just said the words, he wouldn’t have to change that.
He knew that the final person he had left, the final person he knew who was still among the living, would throw himself upon a blade if he told him to, would smile as he did it.
There's only one last thing Ayin needs to do before the Seed of Light Scenario can begin. For his plan—his script—to work, Benjamin must first die.

Summary
Ayin wanted to shake him. Ayin wanted him to care, even just a sliver, for himself. Ayin wanted him to show even a hint of selfishness, a hint of ire, a hint of fear, a hint of loathing; he wanted Benjamin to show that he was capable of understanding that Ayin was not a good person, that staking his life on Ayin would only end in tragedy.
And yet it was far too late for that, wasn’t it? Their lives were inextricably tied together; their lives had been bound ever since they’d first met, hadn’t they?
In the aftermath of the massacre at the lab in the Outskirts, Ayin tries to convince Benjamin that he's a fundamentally bad person.
He fails.
