Hunter studies him, a little too intently maybe, but Anakin is too busy trying to rouse up the energy to focus for him to care. “Why don’t you take a break? Tell me about this battle… and what’s on your mind.”

It’s hard to fight a war. Being responsible for an entire legion of clone troopers while barely nineteen is a crushing burden for Anakin to bear. The men who die do so because he gave the order. Even after three years, it hasn’t gotten easier. Hunter might not fully understand the burden, but he knows what it’s like to lead, and he knows what it’s like to need a break. Hunter is good at distractions.
