Snoke might be old and sentimental enough to welcome Hux (and his DNA test) with open arms but Kylo certainly isn’t. There was no way to bribe him; if he simply found a way to oust Hux, Kylo would have pride of place in a will worth far more than Hux could ever buy him off with.
But of course, money isn’t the only thing which makes the world turn.
