Summary
The demogorgeon had gotten Will. And even though it was just a game, it felt different. Like he had failed him, not ready to protect him as he took the role of the storyteller. Maybe it could've been different if he had gone for his usual Paladin role. He would've saved him, coming to help as soon as the Cleric would need him, shielding him from any harm. Yet he didn't manage to.
Mike decided that he was overthinking it too much and decided to rush back inside, it was already late anyways.
He was not prepared for what would happen only the next day.

Summary
For the past two years, Micheal Wheeler hasn't usually let himself feel things.
Obviously, he has feelings. He loves his friends, he likes El, he appreciates his family. But he’s been hiding that feeling for so long that he almost forgot it existed.

Continues immediately after the events of season 5 episode 7. Basically the finale, but written by someone who actually cares about queer representation. Mike did NOT deserve that absolute assassination and I WILL be doing him right.
In other words, a fix-it fic based on my last byler theory on my YouTube channel (@i.dontknowhowtodance, the period is IMPORTANT), in which we get a Mike-central finale where byler is canon. I do want to clarify I only watched the finale once and I refuse to watch it again so I might get some plot points wrong but you guys don't care anyway because no one likes the finale.

Mike grabs his wrist once more, staring at him with pleading eyes that bore deep into his soul. He blurts, “Wait. Just- just give me six months.”
Will turns, sighing, “Six months to do what?”
“Six months to- to fix this. To fix us. Please. After that, if it doesn’t work, you can leave and I won’t bother you again. Please Will, I need this. Just six months.”
“Just six months?” Will whispers, eyes glassy and wide.
“Yes,” Mike nods furiously, desperate to convince him, “Just six months. That’s all it is.”
Slowly, as with great effort, Will swallows and dips his head – the tiniest affirmation.

Mike won't let Will walk out of his life. Will grants him six months.

Summary
It was only August 4th, but they had wanted to get settled into the apartment before classes started, so much to both of their mothers dismay, they cut their last summer in Hawkins short to in Max’s eloquent words “Fuck around and play house while the rest of us are stuck in a fucking shit hole for a month and a half” and if the comment made both of them blush red no one mentioned it.
“Do you want to do our rooms or the kitchen first because I think kitchen, it’s already 3:30 and I want to eat dinner tonight, there's a couch and a recliner in here if we want to just do the stuff out here? It can be a sleepover, like we always imagined we would have as adults when we were little kids,” Mike said, already opening one of the boxes labeled kitchen without waiting for Will’s reply.
“Sure why not, it’ll be like we’re in your basement except we have windows, and it isn’t freezing,” Will joked, opening his own kitchen box.

Mike and Will move in together when they start college and realize just how much they mean to one another and that this doesn't really change that much for their relationship as they fall deeper in love with each other.
