Ahead, Kyle saw a kink in the metal rail. For a second he thought the avalanche had already ripped it open. It was an angled downward slope that disappeared instantly into the dark void of the valley beside them.
And Stan's eyes were focused directly on it, a determined look in his eye mixed with fear.
"Hold on!" Stan roared, his voice cracking.
“Don’t,” Kyle croaked. “Don’t you fucking—”
Stan’s foot pressed harder on the gas, and the car surged.
Kyle’s hands flew to the dashboard, his fingers digging into the hard plastic, right foot furiously pressing down on a non-existent break on the passenger side.
“Stan, what the fuck are you doing!?" Kyle yelled. “Stay on the road; stay on the fucking—”
“Brace!”
Stan yanked the wheel left, hard, throwing the Subaru into a deliberate skid, steering directly towards the gap. The Subaru launched off the shoulder just as the deafening wave of snow clipped the rear bumper. The car spun in mid-air, entirely untethered from the earth.Or:
Kenny needs a ride. Stan and Kyle need to stop arguing for five goddamn minutes.
