But yeah, I low-key just never got around to writing this. I just rediscovered it in my files and decided to post it as is, which is just the intro to the AU. 1209 words, mostly set-up. It’s a canon divergence from Safe Room that would have had a lot of family drama and TomGreg. Tom would have left Shiv to die at some point but she survives and kills him etc. etc. Also Connor would have been in NYC at the time, so he and the siblings’ goal would have been to get to the ranch.

Greg blinked slowly, eyes glazed and heavy, as if moving through molasses, caught somewhere between sleep and wakefulness. His gaze flickered up to meet Tom’s, unfocused yet entirely present, vulnerable in a way that made Tom’s chest tighten.

The room seemed to shrink around them, walls closing in with the heat of expectation, the silence swallowing every other sound. The smallest pause stretched out, thick and electric, before Tom’s voice dropped again, even softer, drawing Greg in like a whispered secret. “If I told you to?”
