Shen Jiu scoffed, snapping his fan open. Of course. What else had he been expecting? What former slave would react to their past name? He’s always complained about Qi-ge calling him “Xiao Jiu” still, and yet, the first time he met someone from the old cohort, he was no better!
“At least you’re smarter than Qi-ge,” Shen Jiu muttered under his breath, fully intending to leave and forget he ever saw Cho Sam again. If the man wanted to cut the ties, Shen Jiu should honour his choice-
But it seemed less like a deliberate snub and more like genuine forgetfulness when Cho Sam snapped to attention.
“No way!” He bounced up to him with a wide, unhinged grin. Definitely Cho Sam. “Xiao Jiu?”
Instantly incensed, Shen Jiu slammed his fan on top of Cho Sam’s head. “Who are you calling Xiao, huh?! I’m older than you!”
Cho Sam stuck his tongue out at him, deftly avoiding the strike. “But I’ve got the higher number!”

Summary
He helped Cheong Myeong gather some of the groceries and they left the cart outside of the house as they entered. Seated behind a long, wooden instrument was Cheong Myeong's husband. He was also wearing ancient-style robes, ones which looked even more elaborate with the white and green fabrics stitched with golden embroidery, and he was wearing an actual guan in his hair.
"Welcome home." The man said something with a smile, raising his head to look towards the entrance. His expression stuttered as he noticed Izuku.
"Hello!" Izuku greeted, inclining his head. His hands were full of groceries at the moment, but he hoped that would be polite enough.
"Husband" the man focused his attention on Cheong Myeong. "Did you kidnap that child?"

Shen Jiu got interrupted by a mooncake abruptly getting stuffed into his mouth. He nearly choked, and almost spat the sweet out, but… He couldn’t waste food. Especially not a sweet treat! Even if it’s been poisoned, he could not simply spit it out.
He chewed through the mouthful as quickly as possible, extending his qi to inspect it as he swallowed, but he wasn’t able to detect anything amiss. As soon as he managed to get it down, he opened his mouth-
Only to get another mooncake stuffed right back in. He didn’t even see Cheong Myeong’s hand move!

“Peak Lord of Qing Jing, Shen Qingqiu.” He finally said. Then, seeing Cheong Myeong’s confused face, he added. “Cang Qiong.”
“Ah!” That rang a bell. “The twelve peaks sect? Yeah, I heard of that one.”
Shen Qingqiu looked at him like at a particularly interesting specimen. “It’s relieving to know there are some distant corners of this country where my reputation has yet to be tarnished,” he muttered under his breath. “Very well. Take me to that doctor friend of yours. But if you’re trying to exploit me-”
“Your teeth, my dick, I remember, don’t worry,” Cheong Myeong waved him off, then turned around. “Follow me! I wasn’t paying attention when walking so we might get lost, but I’m sure we’ll get there eventually!”

Cheong Myeong looked up at him, confusion visibly distracting him from pain. "What do you mean?!" He wheezed out, glancing around their barren surroundings. "There's barely two rocks to rub together, where do you expect us to find meat-"
He got cut off by Tang Bo hauling him up by the collar, pulling Cheong Myeong into an obnoxiously loud kiss.

“Poems!” Someone exclaimed as they entered the garden, so engrossed in their troubles that they failed to notice Shen Jiu’s presence. “Whose ridiculous idea was it to allow literature talk as a valid duelling medium? I was brought here to fight, not flap my mouth! I can’t do my job in those conditions!”
“Oh, you think that’s so bad?” Shen Jiu rolled his eyes, watching the newcomer startle. “I have to drink poisoned tea and somehow still handle my sect’s strategy without showing it!”
The newcomer stared at him with eyes opened wide, his arms frozen where he had been gesticulating. Alright, so perhaps putting his words into a spontaneous couplet was a bit much, but Shen Jiu felt like venting some of his frustration so, sue him!
“What a coincidence,” the newcomer said, slowly dropping his hands. “I just so happen to be an expert at drinking poison.”

Shen Jiu didn't particularly enjoy putting his hand on Liu Qingge's mouth, but sacrifices had to be made if he wanted to end today without the Tang family declaring war on Cang Qiong.
"Please excuse my shidi," he apologized once more. "As a disciple of Bai Zhan, he only practices his sword skills, to the exclusion of everything else."
Like, for example, diplomacy. Or common sense.

The second man clasped his hands loudly. "That's where I come in!" He declared. "I am Cheong Myeong, the Plum Blossom Sword Saint, and a week from now, you'll be a master of your quirk!"
