Summary
Picking up 5 years after the events of Breakaway, I'd Notice You is set during Breakfast with Scot and the years that follow. Retired NHL player turned sportscaster Eric McNally has been in a loving but discreet longterm relationship with Sam Miller. When a twist of fate sends a precocious and delightfully flamboyant orphan to their doorstep, Eric and Sam must navigate insta-parenthood.
From 2008–2017, Eric and Sam build a family. After they adopt Scot, they find that they can't stop... and end up with 5 children. It's queer joy and domestic chaos. Eric becomes an openly gay sportscaster narrates the rise of the on-ice rivalry between Ilya Rozanov and Shane Hollander, as he examines the narratives that the league imposes on its players, masculinity, repression, and legacy in hockey.
Full of fun moments from the colorful cast of characters, we get to see Nula and George tie the knot, Mildred's classic meddling, Ryan Burlington deface Miller/McNally property, an epic fistfight between Sam and Billy, Barbara Warren from Child Services calls again with a newborn, and Eric's mom reaches out to meet her grandkids.
