She turns to him, feeling oddly embarrassed to be all dressed up in front of him while he’s in his usual ripped jeans and t-shirt.
“I knew you’d win.” He takes the cheap tiara from her hands; it looks absolutely ridiculous in his hands, flimsy and delicate surrounded by long tendons and the scuffed metal of his rings. He could snap it in a heartbeat and for a second she thinks he might, but instead he cradles it carefully, like it’s actually made of gold instead of plastic and paint.
