Summary
They hear about Technoblade in the news, on the new fancy radio that their neighbor owns. Phil listens close while hugging the both of them, and Wilbur frowns at the words in the air.
They say that the new avatar has been found. That he’s being kept safe and is being trained in a sacred temple so he can protect the world when he is older.
Wilbur thinks it’s bullshit. He says as such. Phil doesn’t even scold him, he just agrees. Tommy repeats him, and Phil laughs.
It’s the first time he’s laughed since Techno was taken.

Summary
“A little farther!” called the unfamiliar voice of the cart-driver as he snapped the whipcords reigning the half-mad horses pulling them forward. Tommy wasn’t comforted by the promise. At first the sight of the pair of roan stallions, thin and lithe and swift as the southern breeds tended to be, had served as a comfort, but now he knew them to be a poor choice for their northern trek. The cold air stole the horses’ breath the same as his own, and he now knew speed was not always a partner to the strength needed to pull such a cargo as the one these two were expected to carry.
Tommy had made a poor gamble, and he had a nagging suspicion that Ranboo would not have the want or opportunity to tell him so. Under the fluttering hem of their tarp, Tommy spied through the feet of their fellow truants to the dark and shadowed woods around them. He gripped his stolen dagger tight against his chest.
Too-long fingers slid over the gentle curve of Tommy’s back and tugged his shoulder. “They’re going to catch us,” said Ranboo.

Fleeing the chaos of war and a manhunt he does not understand, Tommy joins a cart of strangers hoping to seek refuge in the frigid empire to the north. -

“Something has been stolen from us,” Thanatos said, his wings puffing up as he spoke. “Something that is very important to us. And we are fairly certain that the person who stole this thing of ours is in this very crowd.”
Dream tensed beside Tommy as the crowd broke out into murmurs. Eyes were darting towards the different heroes in the crowd, the benefactors no doubt assuming that the culprit had to be a hero.
“Like we said, we haven’t crashed your party to cause trouble. But we want this thing returned to us, and we won’t hesitate to take extreme measures to get what we want.”
or, Tommy was a lot of things: a newly debuted hero sidekick, an amnesiac, and a former kidnapping victim of the Syndicate.
Tommy didn't actually remember that last one though. That was just what Dream told him.
Only weeks after his hero debut, the Syndicate announces they are searching for something, and Tommy knows it has to be him. The scariest part? If they find him, Tommy will have no clue what to expect, because the Syndicate might know him, but he has no memories of them.
So he can't let them find him. No matter what.
Of course they end up finding him anyway.
