Shauna stumbled in. She looked like shit, her eyes sunken, her hair a mess, drowning in a shirt that probably used to belong to Travis. Her face was flushed, and Travis couldn’t tell if it was from the wine or her tears. She looked just the same as when she had brought them the pieces of Javi. Except this time, Jackie’s necklace hung on her.
Travis was terrified. There was no way this would work. She could tear into him right now, beat him like she did to Lottie, bite him like she did to Mari, rip Jackie’s dress off of him and scream until he wished he was among the bones in the plane. But he held himself up, composed. Deep breaths.
"Shauna." Jackie’s words came from Travis’ mouth.
