Summary
It started with the Russians.
Whatever was in those needles the doctor had injected them with did more than just making them giggly and high. They didn’t realize it until after they had puked it up and bonded on a bathroom floor and defeated a meat monster, but it definitely wasn’t just a truth serum.

Summary
When Jason takes his first breath after dying, seven other people take a breath at the same time. He’s still half-dead and won’t be himself until he’s gone crazy with green-tinted madness and dragged himself back from it. But he tastes grave dirt. He also tastes the muggy air of Gotham, chai, an ocean breeze, bitter coffee, burnt sesame oil, cherry lip gloss, and toothpaste. Somehow the sensations are all separate despite the fact that they’re happening at the same time.
Maybe the shock of it is part of what puts him into a coma. Part of what keeps him wandering and confused for a year, chasing sounds and smells that don’t exist to anyone else. It isn’t until he surfaces from the lazarus pit that he remembers that first breath and takes another one.
Things move much quicker after that.
