Elrond stepped forward, and Galadriel broke off, dropping the braid as though it burned her.

Or, in an alternate timeline from ROP, Elrond and Galadriel are sent to Khazad-dum to sign a treaty between Gil-galad and Durin III - and to attend the wedding of Prince Durin and Disa. Galadriel wants dwarvish-style braids as a sign of respect, but while braiding her hair, Elrond's thoughts focus more on his romantic feelings.

He did not mention that it was not only the orphans he desperately wished to protect when he ventured outside of the city. Perhaps most of all, he was motivated to safeguard Galadriel herself.

Sauron had returned, Elrond’s mission to Ost-in-Edhil had failed, Galadriel could not forgive him, and they were all leaving Middle Earth forever.
But at least Galadriel was not gone to Valinor, to dwell apart from him for centuries, perhaps millennia.

As the elves prepare to leave Middle Earth, Elrond is grateful that at least he has not lost Galadriel, as he would have if she had remained on the ship to Valinor. And then Cirdan arrives with the rings...

Summary
The live music is engaging enough that she can stare straight ahead, but not so engaging to stop her leg somehow moving sideways.
Galadriel doesn’t really remember sliding her leg that way, but the solidity of Elrond's leg against hers is impossible to ignore. Her heart races, and sweat trickles slowly down her back, though the room hadn’t felt particularly hot a few moments before.
When the song stops, Galadriel applauds as heartily as anyone. But still, before the applause dies down and the next song can begin, she stands and rushes from the room.
Her place is beside her beloved Celeborn.

Well - this is not a time for propriety. He has kissed her before in circumstances that feel to him no less desperate than this, and what she is to him is beyond the need for any distinctions of etiquette anyway. They have known each other so long and so well that there is no place for aversion. So he lets her kiss him and he softens and yields for her, granting her victory over his mouth in the hope it’ll sate her. Let her win if winning is what she seeks.
He will remember this later. He will recite it to himself in quiet rooms, justifying himself to the merciless court of his own conscience. It might even have sufficed for that had this been all she wanted of him - but this is Galadriel, and nothing has ever been enough for Galadriel.

"My mother jumped from a cliff holding a jewel more precious to her than the children she bore in her own womb. If such a jewel can overcome a mother's love, what is to say these rings cannot overcome a similar purity with terrible darkness?"
Círdan sighed. Elrond was right, jewels had beauty and beauty held power unimaginable."
