Summary
Irep frowned, tearing the book away from his face to get a good look on Peri. “Compared to your family? We’re nowhere near close.”
“I know,” said Peri. He looked at Irep and was startled by the guilt on his face. “But, uh, yeah. You’re my best friend.”
Peri waited for Irep to deny the claim like he did during their graduation. Instead, what came out of his mouth was a solemn, “You’re my family.”
The night after their graduation, Peri thinks about the people in his life.
