“HKS. Stop fucking squirming.” Mydei hisses, hand slipping uncomfortably close to Phainon’s head in an effort to hold himself up.
“My leg is cramped.” Phainon whines, pressing his back further into the stone wall. “Can’t you burst us out?”
(“I forgot about that plot point.” Caelus mutters. “Uh, okay, how about it’s super reinforced stone.”)
There may not be any stone in Amphoreus that can withstand Mydei’s fist, but luckily this is weird-limbo-Amphoreus.
“This seems to be a load bearing wall.” Mydei says in surprise, because it definitely was not a load bearing wall a few seconds ago. He pushes against the stone, and the ceiling creaks ominously.
“It sure is crazy that it mysteriously fell right behind you as you and I walked into this cramped room together then.” Phainon laughs nervously.
Alternatively: if Amphoreus is stuck in a USB drive of Caelus' writing, what's stopping him from making Phainon and Mydei speedrun fanfic tropes?

Summary
“Flattery won’t get you any extra portions, Deliverer,” replied Mydei with a quiet huff of amusement. “I have to admit I’m unsure whether I’d say food can ‘win hearts’ — strengthen, maybe, but I have yet to witness it pull on the ‘heart’ enough to sway a person. Many Okhemans have tried my recipes, yet plenty of those same people still pray to Kephale for my people’s and my own downfall or execution.”
Phainon could not deny the prince’s experiences with the people of Okhema, and felt a pang of ache somewhere within at the reminder, not that he was without his share of experiences at their sheltered hands either. His grin died down to a more mellow smile.
“I also have to admit I’ve yet to witness such a phenomena,” he said. “However, my mother swore it was very much real.”
After a combat mission turns into a mass civilian rescue, Phainon and Mydei find themselves having to pass the time while on a night watch. Their conversations soon lead Phainon to think back to home and the comforts he once found there while Mydei listens to his tale as they keep each other company through the dark of curtain-fall.

“I’ll be okay." Mydei squeezes his hand, lips quirked up. "It’s only for the week.”

“What is that thing?”
Two black, beady eyes stared back at him, as dark as its pointed nose, sticking out from the large mound of white fur.
“Oh! This is Snowy. Mydei meet Snowy. Snowy meet Mydei. Say hello.”
Snowy lifted its front paw and batted in Mydei’s direction but Phainon chuckled and took Snowy’s paw in his hand, shaking it once while muttering praises of good boy.
“And this creature—”
“Snowy.”
“Snowy. Is what exactly?”
“A dog,” Phainon cooed at Snowy, like a parent fussed over their newborn, both hands vigorously fluffing the fur around his neck. “My pupper. My good boy. Isn’t that right, Snowy.”
When Mydei arrives in Okhema with the Kremnoan detachment he’s greeted by The Deliverer, Phainon of Aedes Elysiae. And also his dog.

Phainon is considering whether or not to ask Mydei if he likes men. Though honestly, it’s more like he’s working up the nerve to ask Mydei if he likes men. He’s taken to practicing in the mirror at night when he’s sure nobody’s listening, monitoring his inflections and the way he emphasizes certain syllables so he doesn’t come off as too judgmental or too excited: Are you a homosexual? Are you a homosexual? Are you a homosexual? So on and so forth.

Summary
If it hadn't been for Mydei's compassion, King Eurypon would have left Phainon to rot in a dungeon after taking him back to Castrum Kremnos as spoils. Now, he thinks of his own son as weak-willed for being seduced by such a filthy siren.
The truth of their relationship, however, would do more than simply draw the king's ire. If the narrative that the crown prince is wildly infatuated with his omega bed warmer keeps lecherous and ill-intentioned men away from Phainon, then so be it.
Of course, it complicates things greatly if such men are part of the diplomatic delegation that Castrum Kremnos is set to host for the annual summer festival.
