Summary
Magical ability has waned in the Known Lands, and so scholarship of it is almost all that the kingdoms have left to them after the Sequestration of the Wizards’ Keep at the north end of the world a century ago. Christine is a scholar of magical history and alchemistry at Dawnsight University, trying to help reconcile the gap between the natural sciences and the shortcuts that magic used to provide, whereas her childhood sweetheart Ruelle is a bold-hearted squire who wants to become one of the first woman knights in the kingdom. But when a lovers’ quarrel and an errant spell send Christine careening into a strange prison buried deep within the Dead Forest – into the house of what might be the most beautiful, and the most heavily ensorcelled, man in the world – her understanding of both herself and the world around her must change . . . as must the world itself.

Summary
The malcontent sysadmin Erik Bosch has a plan to exact revenge on Hollywood for all those movies about deformed killers who hide their faces behind masks. It’s foolproof – or at least it was, until he discovered the truth about the one video rental store in town that’s managed to escape his watchful eye and industrial-strength magnets. Not that he can really explain it to the rest of the gang over IRC, but Erik’s problems rapidly snowball into a mess involving a roller-skating rink, counter-sabotage, and some particularly strange AIM chat room encounters. If he were a less clumsy guy, he might not have fallen into love in such a tangle of limbs and videotape . . . nor into that urn . . . so it’s really too bad that you can’t hit Rewind in real life.

Summary
In 1883, the winter season at the Palais Garnier, Paris's premier opera house, is thrown into disarray by bumbling new managers. Amidst the power struggle that begins, stories rage of a Ghost, angered by the recent changes, who haunts the opera, terrorizing anyone who dares cross him.
With her late and unremarkable entrance to the opera house, Christine Daaé knows nothing of the Ghost. However, she tells stories of her own, and her skills quickly enrapture the young girls of the corps de ballet. Unknown to them, someone else begins listening in as Christine weaves magical tales while the rest of the opera sleeps. One night, to vanquish the wide-eyed fear of the little ballerinas, Christine paints the Opera Ghost in a new light.

The town is quiet enough, the school is simple enough. Her co workers are all nice and talkative-well, except for one. There are rumours that there is only one teacher that the children are truly frightened of, a quiet and unsociable musician, who would rather haunt his own office than be seen anywhere else. Perhaps these rumours are true, but Christine can only wonder, is there more beneath than what lies on the surface?
