From middle school to high school, he’d grown about four inches and started training seriously, apparently. So said the width of his shoulders, the way his stupid polo shirts had filled out from him. It made Eddie want to scream; his hair was wild from how many times he’d run his hands through it trying to distract himself from Steve fucking Harrington. His stupid smile and the way his hair fell and the way he looked clean and shiny, like a new penny.
Eddie shoved his head deeper into his locker, trying to ignore the younger boy.
He’d managed to push off his stupid middle school crush for ages, managed to ignore it after transferring to Hawkins Middle and meeting Steve Harrington for the first time. They’d had one school year together; he’d been able to ignore that shit and just…Exist.
