"Kiryu-chan!" Goromi screeches and breaks into as much of a run as her fashion choices allow, leaps forward when she's close enough and Kiryu-chan staggers a step back with a pale blush high on his cheeks and solid arms around her waist, holding her clean off the ground.
"Hello, gorgeous," he says in that voice that always threatens to melt her insides into jelly and the whole thing is so cheesy Goromi can't help herself and bends her legs at the knees like a dainty princess who got swept up by her prince charming.
"What a greeting - were ya rehearsing that?" she says between giggles. Kiryu-chan frowns a little, probably stuck interpreting whether it's a taunt or genuine curiosity, slides her down to the ground and raises his chin to kiss her. "A-a-ah," Goromi exclaims in a sharp staccato and presses her pink-clawed index and middle finger against his mouth. "No ruinin' my lipstick, attaboy, the night is too young."

Summary
Kiryu’s circle of acquaintances had never been big. He’d always had Nishiki and Yumi, who understood him best, who he could actually talk to sometimes. Kazama for his stern and solid support. He could only talk to their headstones now.
Haruka, her small, hot hand clamped in his, didn’t deserve to bear his grief merely by virtue of being all he had left. For a few hours on weekends, he could manage not to think of anything but the joy on her face as she scanned café menus and tried to decide how much she wanted to cut into his former-chairman’s pension for the month. She could’ve picked any number she liked. She probably knew that.
Technically speaking, Haruka wasn’t the only person he had left. The other most obvious option wasn’t someone you invited, though; he could usually be expected to just show up...

“Nah, don’t bother.” Majima huffs out smoke and stares up at the moldy ceiling. He sounds bored of the joke already. “I got allergies anyway.”
It’s funny to think of Majima, who bulled through being stabbed and shot and drowned by sheer force of personality, being brought low by hay fever. Kiryu’s chest twinges again. He should microwave a bag of rice to put on that when he gets home.

“Yumi Sawamura,” Seonhee replied matter-of-factly. “Dead for nearly twenty years.”
Silence fell around the table as they all considered this new angle. If they were talking about any other guy Seonhee would have suggested finding him a pretty girl who’d show him a good time. [...] But she knew it just wouldn’t work. It’s not that Kiryu-san didn’t appreciate beautiful women; he just wasn’t a man who’d fall head over heels for one so quickly. It was a quality she admired about him, and which, at the same time, annoyed her to no end. The man was immovable like a mountain.
“There had to be someone else,” Saeko said. “You don’t really believe Kiryu-san didn’t even have a crush on anyone after Yumi died, do you?”
