Summary
Sometimes, all it takes is one late-night conversation.
A conversation about bad dates somehow leads to Mike tracing the constellation of moles scattered across Will’s skin. It turns into a harmless challenge when he closes his eyes and finds every spot in the dark.
Maybe love and compatibility isn’t something you search for. Maybe it’s already there with someone you’ve known by heart all along.

Summary
After a few minutes, Will pulls back, with one final kiss to Mike's nose, and caressing his cheek with his thumb. Then he says three words that shifts Mike's entire world in one go, "happy anniversary, baby."
He knows that he should be more taken aback by mention of an anniversary that they're apparently celebrating, but it's baby that makes Mike's entire chest cavity feel like there's a fourth of July fireworks display going off in there. And then he notices the simple but elegant gold band on Will's left hand and instinctively looks at his own, where there is a silver one to match.
Holy fuck. Not only are him and Will together in this dream, or not-dream, that he's in, but they're fucking married. Will Byers is his husband, and somehow it's the best word he could ever think of to describe him.
Unbeknownst to him, Mike Wheeler accidentally rolls magic dice and wakes up twenty-five years in the future, where he and Will are happily married.

Summary
“The–” he stammers, his eyes watering. “The trees,” he whispers, a tear escaping and rolling down his cheek. “He’s hiding. I heard him.”
Mike instinctually tightens his arms protectively. “Hey, no no no. We’re here. It was nothing. I’m here,” he shushes him, tasting the salt of Will’s tear when he presses a kiss on his wet cheek. He brings his left hand up to brush the sweaty hair off Will’s forehead. “You’re safe. You’re safe.”
Will shakes his head no, still convinced that something is in the woods. “M’not safe. I’ll n-never be safe.” He whispers, breathing hard and eyes wide open.
Before he knows it, more tears roll down his cheeks and he starts sobbing quietly into Mike’s arms. He makes pained sounds and gasps for air as he sobs and sobs and sobs, gripping his arms tight around Mike’s, scared of letting go.

Summary
Will curled into himself as he continued, “Sometimes I’m scared I’ll be alone forever. Sometimes I just feel so different and- and I feel so alone, but I don’t want to be alone.”
“You won’t be alone.” Mike's voice was firm, and he pulled Will into a tight hug, leaving no room for him to wiggle away or disagree. “Please don’t say that.”
Now that his face was hidden away, Will continued, verbalizing the scary thoughts that flitted around his head. “Even when I was talking to someone who was like me, I still felt so wrong. Like I always say the wrong things and want what I can’t have.”

Summary
“What were you two doing, then? Studying?” Mike smirks. Will's pillow smacks her square in the glasses in response. She's in no mood.
“Funny.”
Mike's face falls, attuned to every shift in Will's tone after many years of practice. “What? Was it not good? Did something happen?"
She shakes her head, softening. Truthfully, Will’s only issue is that she still desperately wants to get off, and doesn’t know if she’s ever going to be able to at anyone else’s hand. Or fingers. Ha. She lives to suffer.
“No, it’s not like that.” Will huffs, fidgeting with her sleeves. Fuck it. She needs to tell somebody, and Mike’s got that expression on her face that's just begging for Will to confess all her secrets. Maybe she’ll know what's wrong with her.
“It's just... When you get with guys, do you usually, uh.” She trails off, mouth dry. She doesn’t really want to think about Mike hooking up with anyone, but she’s also desperate to know she's not alone in this.Mike snorts. “What, finish?"
