Freminet had a realization, a relatively upsetting one. They were running out of time. He didn’t know how long Tighnari and Cyno had planned to stay. He didn’t know when he would lose Collei again. He glanced at her lips, soft, pink, and faintly smiling. He had to do something and he had to do it fast.

He let out a pleased sigh before he could stifle it, and leaned into that warmth. It felt like that void inside of his chest was slowly, steadily being filled, like the weight was being eased. He felt more than heard Kaveh’s hum, like the architect had been proven right about something Alhaitham was not privy to. At the same time, the hand still cradling the back of his head began to scratch at his scalp, fingers combing through his hair. He groaned appreciatively, and melted even further into Kaveh’s grasp.
At that, Kaveh let out the prettiest little laugh, but Alhaitham was too busy basking in the warmth and comfort to feel embarrassed.
