Summary
Astarion was fairly certain that vampire spawn didn't get an afterlife. Aside from the fact that he was technically already dead, he figured that if he had a soul that could be swayed toward faithful devotion with a few well-placed miracles, then his supplications wouldn't have gone ignored by every deity he could name. Still, his lack of an afterlife had never really bothered him. He had no one who he'd want to reunite with in death, so what did he have to look forward to? After the life he'd lived, oblivion sounded awfully tempting. But that was before he had people in his life worth living for, followed closely by the distressing reminder that he would eventually outlive all of them.
It looked like he'd been wrong when he'd lauded the idea of an eternity of luxury. Turns out, even an eternity of luxury is dulled by the inevitability of watching the people you love die.
