    Dennis stills at that, giving him that same, blank look from before. Robby wants to shut his eyes. He never wants to see it again.
    He tilts his head. “Accident?”
    “You were—” Robby says, and doesn’t miss the desperation in his own voice. “I just told you. You were in an accident. Don’t you remember?”

    After an argument about Robby’s resignation from the Pitt, Dennis gets into a car crash that makes him unable to retain short-term memories. Including the fight they just had, and Robby’s imminent departure. It’s up to Robby to nurse him back to health, and choose which truth to tell him.

    Or, Dennis gets anterograde amnesia.
