Summary
Too much magic, they say. The entirety of Winter, solely under Noctis’ tenuous control. It’s difficult, not least of all because it isolates him, makes it impossible for other Gods to be around him, let alone anyone else.
“Didn’t it hurt?” Noctis asks. “When you touched me.”
“No,” Prompto says. “Should it?”
Noctis doesn’t know if it should, just that— “It does everyone else,” Noctis says.
“Everyone?”
Prompto sucks in a deep breath and pushes it out long and slow. He doesn’t seem scared when he reaches for Noctis’ hand, doesn’t even hesitate to interlock their fingers, and press their palms together.
“There we go,” Prompto says softly. “To start making up for it.”Alternatively: The only thing that can threaten the God of Winter is a broken heart—and no one will ever get close enough for that.

Prompto straightens, still smiling, still holding onto her. Noctis watches and stays exactly where he is. Even as the music carries on. Even as the lanterns flicker overhead. Even as something unsettled lingers, quiet and persistent, just under the surface, where he refuses to look at it too closely.
He’s not sure what he’s supposed to be feeling.
And that terrifies him.

Summary
Zidane has returned to Alexandria after his disappearance. Queen Garnet cannot seem to keep from returning to her old, dependent self when she meets him again, and Steiner is afraid that his friend will have a negative impact on his queen's sovereignty. Beatrix just wants Alexandria's restoration to go according to plan, because for as long as they’ve been rebuilding their fine kingdom, Alexandria is still missing its Heart.
