It takes him an absurdly long while to figure out this place doesn't just wind on forever. Really, it seems to loop back and forth with the same variant of architecture, wallpaper patterns clustered inconsistently and fraying at certain borders, a tentative look making residence on his face when he looks twice and finds it perfected, and as much as he'd like to claim it perfectly reasonable and not out of the ordinary, it's what's printed on the cover. Out of the ordinary.

The distant sight of the ground stretching far far below him should've startled him, should've made him jump back and away from the parapet he was precariously balanced on. But it didn't. Instead, it was swallowed whole by the numbness Hizashi realized controlled his entire body. Like a calm acknowledgement of the inevitable.
