    Summary

Mydei fights monsters and travels alone. Emphasis on that last part. That is, until some village boy starts following him around, desperate to get stronger.
    |
Phainon has it all planned out:

    1. Convince the handsome witcher to bring him to Castrum Kremnos.
    2. Train and get strong enough to prevent what happened in Aedes Elysiae from ever happening again.
    3. Face his past, and the monster that comes with it.

It goes about as well as expected, that is to say, not well at all. And he should probably add a step 4. Fall in love.

“Could you tell me exactly what is troubling you?”

Aventurine makes a vague gesture. “Bad dreams. You’re probably familiar with it.”

“The touch of the Nihility affects everyone differently. Until I know your exact symptoms, I won’t be able to treat you.”

Aventurine closes his eyes, for a moment, and opens them. “Old memories,” he says, finally. “A lot sharper than they should be. Like I’m really there, watching it happen.”

(After Penacony, Aventurine's been having some bad dreams. He starts seeing a Doctor of Chaos about it. Ratio gets roped in to help. Aventurine's not happy about any of it; and anyway, it's all pointless, isn't it?)

Among them, countless belong to heroes, countless to the nameless, countless to geniuses, and countless to fools...
But tonight belongs only to you, and no one can deprive you of it.
The Tok people of Tidorra have a blessing they reserve only for their most cherished friends: Nogat i kamap tunait.
It translates to "This night, nothing occurred."

Great Ratio and Aven characterisation. The imagery is so loving and peaceful.

Prose once again so good it brings me to my knees.
I adore how this piece merged reality with the supernatural so well. Erwin’s condition never felt jarring, or out of place, but as if it was always a piece of this world, and that is a testament of such skilful world building. You could just feel the age oozing off this man. And the ways they incorporated, altered, and toyed with common stereotypes of vampires? So brilliant. Erwin’s ability to read people’s pulses just elevated this already layered story another tenfold. So many unique descriptions, so much fascinating prose opened up.
And the part on the boat, wow. I have read few stories that atmospheric in their description. You were constantly subject to the claustrophobia of all these characters jammed on this little vessel, of the persistent rocking, the nausea, the isolation. Even the city, Erwin’s description’s of everyone’s hearts made everything feel so oppressive and chaotic. And of course, their pining. Erwin’s fear and cowardice, Levi’s unnameable emotions; all of was so delicious to read.
