Summary
It’s been fourteen years since the outbreak. Society is splintered into isolated pockets, many of which fight each other for resources. At 22 years old, Yang Xiao-Long barely remembers a time before Grimm.
Her relatively secure life is flipped onto its head when a member of The White Fang, an extremist faunus-oriented society, is taken into custody and interrogated. Circumstances all but force them to work together as a team. Yang was taught to be kind, but life has been harsh and unforgiving. How could anyone expect her to be friendly with the enemy?

Summary
After Blake calls out Yang's name during a nightmare, she has to spill the beans to her parents. Her dad suggests she try writing a letter to Yang. Whether or not Yang will actually write back is another thing entirely, but maybe it's better to have a firm answer than to wallow in misery forever. And when Yang receives the letter, several choices confront her.

“I need a favor,” Blake says, and if Yang hadn’t heard that one before.
“What makes you think you can ask me for favors?” Then she smiles, that oh-so-innocent smile she plasters on for teachers, and apparently people who she needs favors from.
“Be my girlfriend.”
Yang short-circuits for a second, “Sorry, what?” she croaks out, because maybe she heard Blake wrong.
“Be my girlfriend," she pauses, rewording, "Fake girlfriend.”
“Fake… girlfriend?”
