After all, there were always new stories to be read.
The one she was currently reading was one of her favourite kinds: a sweet, fluffy romance novel with queer protagonists. Aziraphale didn't have any romantic pursuits of her own, so she got her dose of romance from books - it'd always been this way. She didn't mind, usually; it was all for the best, choosing the safety of escapism into a fictional story over the uncertainty and potential hurt from a real relationship with someone. That said… every now and then, she could experience this pining that was almost painful, this yearning, this desire for something more than just her boring everyday life - sometimes she wished she could experience a love story, the kind of the ones she could find in the books she loved so much. She knew, of course, that real life wasn't a carefully crafted set up, and hoping for tropes like meet-cute, or grumpy x sunshine, or opposites attract was idle daydreaming - nevertheless… it was nice to daydream sometimes.

Summary
As pathetic as it was that Thomas needed a knight in scratchy tweed to save him, having someone who looked so boring and thus so down-to-earth would really make Thomas feel more sure of himself. Fake it til you make it, right? And if someone next to him could help Thomas gather the courage to finally get his shit together and move out of home, and maybe move away from that damn club, too-
If Thomas was too old for plushies to make him braver, he could get himself a pretty boy to give him a confidence boost.

"I… I'm afraid that I don't have much. I can't even be sure if the surname he told me was real or made up, but…" He took a deep breath, and his voice shook with affection. "His name was Thomas."
The ghost of a soldier was overcome with emotion, tearing up, but Edwin still managed to give him a blank stare. "Yes? Anything more?"
This time, Alexander actually blushed which quite shocked Edwin, who had never before seen a ghost do such a thing. "Well, about that…"
The detective looked at this client, expecting a follow up. "Yes? What about that?"
"I had to hide the letters we exchanged, and I'm afraid they were burnt with the rest of my belongings after I died. But there was this- this one photograph I've always kept on myself- I couldn't let anyone see it… It was private."

The words took a moment to sink in, but as soon as they did, Thomas grinned brightly. "So you like to get high?"
Edwin rolled his eyes. "No, I don't. That would be just screwing around." He put his chin high. "I don't do drugs, I do science - I even take notes!"

Thomas is minding his own business, mildly overcaffeinated and stretched out on his favourite bench basking in the warm early-summer sun, when strong fingers wrap around his wrist and he’s unceremoniously hauled to his feet.
“Okay? Hey, hi. How about hands off the merchandise?” he snaps, stumbling to keep his footing as whoever grabbed him drags him into a quick walk. Then he looks up and gets an eyeful of exactly who disturbed his almost-catnap and immediately reassesses his reaction, voice dropping into a heated purr. “Or maybe not. Hello, handsome.” Because currently steering Thomas across the grass is the gorgeous, fascinating, extremely uptight guy that Thomas has been watching and lusting after since the start of the semester.
Tall, Sharp, and Fascinating pastes a stiff smile on his face as he stares determinedly ahead. “Play along and you’ll earn yourself a night of sex before I send you on your merry way.”

Summary
A Halloween party/club night meet-cute! Edwin (reluctantly) joins his friends for a night out, and quickly finds himself the focus of a very handsome man dressed as some sort of cat. Cue clever costumes, flirtatious banter and club dancing.
Through the gap he catches sight of a man lounging indolently against the bar, all attitude and half-bare chest and low-slung waistband, and what appears to be a set of pointed ears atop his head. He is staring straight at Edwin. For one electric moment Edwin’s eyes meet those of the stranger, somehow shining an unearthly gold even in the low club lighting, and the breath catches in his throat. Then the crowd shifts and hides the man from view, and Edwin shakes himself free from the tension and turns back to his friends.
