Summary

But Ellie latches onto them with the kind of trust neither of them is prepared for—and neither of them knows how to give back halfway.
What starts as temporary supervision turns into shared mornings, shared silence, and a quiet understanding neither man is willing to name out loud.

Hotch purses his lips when Reid doesn’t respond, black eyes shimmering with a loaded determination.
“This only works if you trust me.”
It’s not blackmail or intentional guilt tripping, but it almost feels like it; if he lets his fear win, if he takes the out and pulls out of the mission, not only is he putting a stake through their most solid plan, but now he’s also telling Hotch he doesn’t trust him to have his back.
And unfortunately for Reid, there’s no known universe where he doesn’t trust Hotch with his life.
“I trust you.”

Aaron blinks. “I’m sorry, Dave… what?”
“A gay couple,” Rossi repeats, gesturing lazily at the bullpen. “The two young men down there currently sharing a desk.”
“Reid and Morgan?” Aaron’s voice goes up half an octave. Rossi isn’t sure he’s ever heard him sound so scandalized.
