Alternate take on the post-fishing scene/CH20, where Rocky saves Grace and Grace returns the gesture by saving Rocky and exposing himself to superheated ammonia.
Blazing hot ammonia flooded the airlock and dormitory. I slammed the airlock door behind me and spun the lock. Hissing erupted on the other side, loud and violent, but I couldn’t see anything anymore. Can’t even breathe.
The ammonia had hit me straight on. No cover. No shielding. Certainly no glasses on my face to protect my eyes even a little. Just superheated ammonia directly to the face like the universe personally decided I’d gone too long since I’d last suffered five minutes ago.
I’m screaming, I thought. Or maybe gurgling. Hard to tell when my throat felt like it’s being flayed open from the inside. I hit the floor hard, writhing as fire tore through my lungs and airways. Every breath felt like inhaling knives.

Continuous banging on his apartment door typically wasn’t Colt.
Ryland’s twin brother thought that kind of thing was rude. Colt always knocked exactly three times, paused, then knocked another five if Ryland didn’t answer after the first set. Ryland had once pointed out that this system was objectively insane and Colt had argued back that it was “predictable” and therefore polite.
Which meant whoever was currently trying to beat Ryland’s door off its hinges was definitely not Colt.

Tom stared for awhile, looking between Colt and his twin. Hm. He slumped back onto his couch, toying with the brim of his shirt. Then, he got an idea. An awfully evil idea. Ryder bolted back to the window his eyes dead set on Colts twin. Colt wasn’t bad looking, obviously, that applied to his twin aswell. And if Ryder wanted to get any sliver of attention, even from Colt, he could do the same thing everyone was doing to that nerdy man. Shamelessly flirt with him.
Tl;dr Ryder flirts with Grace as a joke. It turns out it’s not a joke anymore.
