    Kids of Izuku’s age wake up slowly. That’s what he’s heard. They wake to soft light through curtains, to a parent leaning over them with a gentle smile. A kiss pressed to their forehead. A warm hand cupping their cheek. A quiet voice telling them it’s time to get up, that breakfast is ready, that they’ll be late for school if they don’t hurry. They stretch. They complain. They roll over and steal five more minutes under the blankets. Somewhere in the house, plates clink and something warm sizzles in a pan.

    That’s what normal mornings are supposed to be. Izuku doesn’t remember the last time he slept without fear.

    Ever since he was very young, Izuku has been used by the Hero Commission for his healing quirk. Instead of attending school or growing up with a family, he spends his days healing critically injured heroes and enduring repeated experiments. He grows up believing that a someone will /eventually/ save him—that someone will come for him—but he doesn’t realize that a wish to be saved can be answered even by villains.

    Three times a week Midoriya would sneak into the 2-A dorms to get some cuddles and get some sleep without nightmares. Despite 19 second year hero students living at the dorms, not once did anyone notice him enter nor leave the building.
    Well, not today.
    Aizawa is late from patrol and meets Izuku at the doors. Sleep deprived Izuku does not know how he came up with the story or why he decided to go with it.

    They expected him to leave her, alone and terrified with eyes that were so eerily similar to his own.

    Izuku understands what she’s been through, he knows the fear, the abuse and the hope that one day everything will change but deep down you know it won’t. He knows the fear you get when someone’s eyes have that glint, and he doesn’t want her to suffer through that anymore.

    He wouldn’t leave her with an abuser, isolated from the world and hoping someone would-

    No, he would save her just like he prayed every night when he was alone that someone would come to save him.
