His feet brush against grass blades speckled in residue dust left behind by pixies that tended to the chrysanthemum bushes earlier and, begrudgingly, he assumes a readied stance in front of General Raimond Davinos.
Father stares him down, a worn wrinkle between his brows. "Retracted guard, Julien. Bring your damn sword closer."
"I know," he snaps, but obeys; crouching slightly lower, bringing his sword closer to himself. Utilizing his shorter stature to deceive the enemy into thinking he is farther than he is. Julien corrects himself: "Yes, father."
