Summary
"You like this?” Samura murmured, lips barely brushing her ear. His breath was hot as it fanned across the fine hairs at the nape of her neck. “You like me touching you like this?”
“Mm-hmm,” Iori managed to say. She blinked away tears that she hadn’t realized she was crying. “I like it. I like it.”
Iori, desperate in the wake of Samura's fight with Chihiro, offers herself to her father in order to get him to stay. He doesn't refuse.

Anyway, tonight Chihiro had to help his dad to bed. He was flushed and almost feverish when Chihiro guided him onto his futon. His skin warmed Chihiro’s wherever they touched.
Once Chihiro had tucked the blankets under his dad’s chin, he slid under them himself. He was happy he was wearing his summer pajamas, just a light shirt and shorts, as he nestled against his dad’s overheated form. It was so cozy that he had no trouble closing his eyes.
He was expecting his dad to eventually have a nightmare, but his dad didn’t. Something else happened.
Chihiro is too old to still be sleeping in his dad's bed.

Azami slides the tape towards him. “Go on. I’m warning you, though, it’s not pretty.”
“For fuck’s sake, Azami,” Shiba mutters. He takes the tape in hands he swears aren’t shaking, slots it into the VCR, watches the TV screen light up in staticky shards. His throat is dry. There’s a pressure building in his chest that Shiba hasn’t felt since he was a kid, laid up in bed with pneumonia. Choked from the inside-out.
Chihiro is taken, but his captors leave a video. Things only get worse once he's returned.

It was a rambling story that Chihiro's father had told him in childhood; that memory rises out of the fog now, at the strangest time.
Chihiro watches the very last tie to his childhood die in his arms.

Summary
Sometimes, when things aren’t going right and Chihiro’s eyebrows start pinching together like they always do when he’s stressed, Shiba looks up to the sky. Imagines Kunishige staring disappointedly down at him from heaven. Or hell, if it exists.
If there is a hell then that's definitely where they're all going, but Shiba digresses. The important bit is that if there's an afterlife, Kunishige is in it, and he's definitely judging Shiba for his questionable teenage-rearing skills.
Or, y’know. Lack thereof.

The unpacked belongings had been shoved to one side, revealing strange chalk markings on the floor, what looked to Emma’s amateur eye like magic sigils. In the center of the room was a metal folding chair. Rachel knelt next to it, carefully not touching the chalk, looking up at the figure sitting in it, dormant.
Emma blinked. It was Jean. And also it wasn’t.
It was Jean’s body. To Emma’s normal eyes, she looked like she was sleeping, her chest rising and falling peacefully, her lips slightly parted. But to Emma’s mental eye there was a coiling thing where her mind should be. It felt slick and sharp at once, almost oily. Emma didn't get too close.
“You see the problem,” said Scott from where he stood by the door.

absurdly, ridiculously, fantastically pitch-perfect poly lesbian feels. the telepathic imagery here drives me neurodivergent. will likely come back to leave a more coherent and meaningful review, but as it is, i just love this fic. feels like it could be a miniseries unto itself. hellions 2020 who?
