Owen woke up to sniffling. He was on his back somewhere; he didn’t know where, but he wasn’t panicking. No, he was quite calm. Eerily calm. Slowly, he sat up, and saw the source of the sniffling.
Someone was carrying a body. Owen stood, feeling oddly light on his feet, and followed. Somewhere in his mind, he knew what was happening. That was Curt, carrying Owen’s own body.

Really, he could have been an actor. The best of their time, possibly.
MI6 saw the potential in this early on, and had coached him on various accents, how to pitch his voice to sound like completely different people, how to imitate other peoples’ speech. His voice was one of his greatest weapons.

Summary
This mission was so different. Curt was not used to this. He flirted, sure, but he never expected his partner to flirt back. Really, his default mode was to be as obnoxious as possible so that they didn’t team him up with anyone. Too many complaints meant that he was mostly a lone agent now, with the agency only pairing him with foreign agents when absolutely necessary (like this mission). Normally, he flirted, he was reckless, he’d poke fun at the other person’s country and culture, all in an attempt to get as many complaints about him as possible once the job was done.

“Hey, is that the celebrity from the news this morning? The, uh, detective or whatever?”
And sure as shit, Goro fucking Akechi was walking towards the school, trailing just a step behind Sae Niijima. Funnily enough, Akira wouldn’t have believed that it was Akechi, if not for the eye contact he was holding with him; the very intense eye contact with him. Akira couldn’t help but wink at him. What! It would be fine, Akira was the only one who remembered the events that were to play out in a few months, and surely Akechi would just think of him as another one of his fans. But that oh-so familiar flash of searing anger tore its way across Akechi's face, the flash that he'd never been able to hide, the flash that made itself known every time Akira decided to be dumb, or reckless, or just outright self-sacrificial.

finally, you can’t stand it anymore. you make the call. you are a spy again. you are a proper spy, this time. you are what your father must have wanted you to be. you shy away from moonlight, and flirt with pretty russians, and straighten your tie, and still, the wolf howls for more.
it howls and howls no matter how often you mess up, no matter how deeply you fall, no matter how many people die because of you. you wonder why you never learned how to be anything more than a killer.
(the wolf wonders why you always assume it is a killer.)
Or, Curt is a werewolf, and it's totally not a metaphor for anything.
