“Harrow’s eyes caught on Gideon’s biceps suddenly—they were looking bigger and more defined than she remembered. When had that happened? There was so much more of Griddle than Harrow remembered, even though they had fought each other, scratching and wrestling on the floor, less than a week ago. Had she always been that tall? Her shirt rode up a little, revealing the smallest sliver of her stomach. Harrow was mid-blush when Gideon caught her eye. Harrow startled. Had her eyes always been so bright? Her stomach lurched violently. Gideon quirked her lips, but there was malice in her eyes. “Can I help you, Nonagesimus?” she said, not lowering her blade.”
