Summary
Shouto doesn't exactly have a passion for heroism. In fact at this point, he's just trying to get through UA minimally scathed and without being kicked out for his little drug problem. But after a chance encounter with the villain Dabi, more and more mysterious occurrences leave him feeling uneasy about his role in the League of Villains comeback. Strange bouts of silence blanket some of Shouto's most vulnerable moments, the people that are closest to him hint at mysterious forces or disappear. But the worst of it is yet to come--When Shouto encounters Dabi for a second time they are both faced with the most difficult choice they'll ever make.
or: The villain Dabi is an asshole and it doesn't exactly take a genius for Shouto to realize that this guy is going to kill him. The only problem: when push comes to shove Dabi chickens out and now the two of them are stuck together until they can figure out a solution that doesn't involve murder. Summary
The Commission has made Hawks into a thorough hero. He knows how to search for evidence where no one thinks to look. He knows how to stay calm even when a sidekick is felled. He knows how to push down his emotions until they fall to depths he can’t reach. But right now his mind is struggling to process what's happened. Just two hours ago, he was having lunch with his intern. Now his top two sidekicks are injured, one is in critical condition, and Tokoyami Fumikage is missing.
(AKA Tokoyami disappears on a patrol gone wrong. With the investigation moving at snail's pace, Hawks turns to his villain contact, Dabi, for help. Hawks will do whatever it takes to bring Tokoyami home, even if that means descending into villainy.)

Summary
Hawks is losing the fight against Dabi, who's just revealed his own identity as well as Hawks' real name. Dabi can't bring himself to strike the killing blow, and neither of them quite know why. Cue Dabi nursing Hawks back to health, and some feelings neither of them know what to do with happening along the way.

"Oh?" Dabi taunts in that flashfire voice of his; and Hawks is reminded, yet again, how easily he burns. "Tell me, what poor little bastard's gonna be riding your ugly-ass coattails for the next few months?"
Hawks frowns, realizing he's just set up a question he actually has to answer. Dabi will find out anyway, won't he? If there's one thing Hawks has learned, it's that Dabi has his ways. Hawks can never hide anything from him, no matter how hard he tries, a fact that will someday spell his undoing –– but there's no way around it now.
Willing his fight-or-flight instinct into silence, Hawks reminds his sharpened feathers he's not here for either. It'll be fine. The worst part of removing a bandaid is the dread before you rip it off. Right?
So Hawks braces himself, and answers:
"Todoroki Shouto."

Hawks' doomed flight towards the sun is thrown off-course when he receives a surprise request from Endeavor's son, asking to be his work-study student. And soon, Dabi's worst nightmare takes a new form when Shouto joins Hawks' obvious-as-hell spy mission, putting them in forced proximity -- only for him to discover that his father's perfect masterpiece is nothing like he thought he was.
