Summary
As his old student moves closer to the edge, Peter inches forward. He can see that John’s entire body is trembling. Carter's eyes are wide and wild and terrified. Pupils massively dilated. Skin nearly white. His blue scrubs are completely soaked, clinging to every angle of his skinny frame. Hair plastered to his forehead.
The scene has an apocalyptic feel to it – it looks like a shot from a movie. A pitch-black night, lit only by distant streetlights. Wind whipping through his hair, waves crashing. The force of the rain beating against the pavement creates a hazy mist between them.
Peter raises his hands placatingly.
OR: Carter gets dosed with a mind-altering drug in the middle of a once-in-a-generation rainstorm.

Summary
Hannibal takes Will to Minnesota after he eludes custody for the copycat murders, but Will puts the pieces together faster than expected. He confronts Hannibal long before they reach the Hobb’s residence.
Sickness and betrayal have a greater effect on Will than Hannibal expected. He never imagined a future where Will would rather die than face it, and he has a lot to make up for if he wants to remain by his potential mate’s side.

Summary
Shane breathes in deep, a contented little sigh, and then pauses for another long time. Just slightly tensed, like he’s preparing himself for something, but Ilya doesn’t really have the chance to worry before he says, “I had…a good time tonight.”
“Mm, was good night,” Ilya murmurs. Kisses hair, kisses eyebrow. “Nice dinner, nice weather.”
“Yeah, it was nice,” Shane murmurs. He sighs, clears his throat. “Thank you for such a nice first date.”
Ilya mouths first date to himself, mind running to figure out what that could mean in this context.
Then Shane shifts and says, “I wasn’t sure what to expect when you asked me out.”
Ah.Shane decides to play a game. Ilya is exactly where he wants to be.

Summary
Ilya wakes up disoriented and overly hot. He blinks his eyes open and slowly comes back to the land of the living as he notices that he isn't even tucked under the blanket. Then why is it so damn hot? The answer lies in the omega lying half on top of him.
"Oh shit," Ilya mumbles, realizing that Shane is burning like a furnace. "Hollander? Hollander, can you hear me? Shane?"
The only response he gets is a garbled whimper, half-buried in Ilya's chest.
"Okay, you said heat was bad, let's knot you again, will make the fever go down," Ilya says and slides his hand between Shane's thighs to his wet hole. He doesn't get much further before Shane clamps his legs shut, closing his eyes with a pained expression.
"What is happening?" Ilya asks into the room as Shane starts sobbing and writhing on the bed._________________
When Shane has to get off his suppressants for medical reasons, he is advised to spend his next heat with an alpha, otherwise the strain on his body might leave permanent damage. When he asks Rozanov, he tries to explain the severity of his heats, but the alpha thinks he is overreacting, expecting a week of easy heat-sex. He should have believed the omega when he warned him.

Rozanov cocked his head. “You speak Russian? Or just the curse words?”
“Yes, I speak Russian,” he snapped, defensive and angry. He knew that it had been a mistake to even try to be friendly with Rozanov. “Why? Do I not look Russian to you?” He scoffed.
“No, not really,” Rozanov said. Some of his teammates laughed, although they mostly looked surprised that Shane was speaking to them at all. Rozanov didn’t laugh, though. “Are you Russian?”
“Go fuck yourself.”

Despite an inauspicious start, when Russia’s Ilya Rozanov learns that Canada’s Shane Hollander is fluent in Russian at their first World Junior Championships tournament, it changes everything and sets them on a different course. Instead of being branded as rivals from the very beginning, Ilya and Shane start off as friends.
And, after all, a little friendly rivalry never hurt anyone, did it?
