Summary
The image of Colin so badly wounded is horrifying, and Penelope hears herself letting out a choked gasp when she finally manages to take a breath.
“Pen, hello,” Colin says from the chair near the entrance where his men have seated him, smiling through his pain. The kindness in his tone, despite how badly hurt he is, makes tears immediately spring to Penelope’s eyes. “I am fine,” he repeats, reaching with his good hand towards her.
It is not the first time Colin Bridgerton falls off a horse, but this time it is infinitely worse. His injuries not only put an early end to his travels, they also prevent him from doing barely anything. Colin is fortunate to spend his recovery at Aubrey Hall surrounded by his family and Penelope during the off-season, but soon, he gets tired of his boring reality.
