In the Fire Nation, servants are traditionally separated in two classes: red servants tend to the nobility directly as butlers, nurses or chambermaids. Grey servants work more menial tasks as kitchen assistants, sweepers or laundry workers, preferably hidden from the eyes of their employers.
This is why certain people like to use them as spies.
Raya, a kitchen assistant from Harbor City, thought she simply signed up for an additional job in the palace and will soon learn better. Zuko finds himself overwhelmed by the obstacles he’s facing while leading a nation only three years after the end of a war. Both don’t want to be in the place they find themselves stuck in and yet this is exactly where they’ll meet.
OR: an attempt at a slow burn romance AU where Zuko falls in love with a servant, featuring some world building for Harbor City, the lower part of the Fire Nation capital, and my ever growing family of OCs.
