The good news was that Eugene didn't seem to notice him. Whatever the guy had been taking notes on seemed to have him locked the fuck in. The bad news was that Eugene didn't notice him at all. Jett didn't like feeling like he wasn't someone worth noticing, especially not by Eugene of all people.
He walked further into the dining room. If he had to have his afternoon spoiled by remembering Eugene existed, then Eugene should have to deal with his afternoon being double spoiled when Jett reminded him how cool he wasn't.

“Man has already been able to fly. Not only do we have planes and rockets and the occasional spaceship, but some metas can fly by themselves. Why not look into inducing that specific function of the metagene?” Tim argued, cringing at the thought of what this guy wanted to do to him.

Tim gets captured by a mad scientist looking to successfully attach wings to someone. The procedure is rough, and leaves him both physically and mentally scarred.

“Hey,” Kon complained. “You were there too. And it was a different planet, not dimension.”
“You were the worst.” Tim said.
“Okay, like you were all sunshine and rainbows when you were running around in red, yellow, and green.” Kon rolled his eyes.

And that gets her that smile that Bart has, and the world stops spinning for a moment.
“What, like, ever?” Bart asks, and Tim nods earnestly.
